PHNOM PENH, March 5, 2026 – A cruise ship carrying nearly 2,000 international tourists docked at Cambodia’s Sihanoukville Autonomous Port on Thursday, highlighting the continued recovery of the country’s maritime tourism sector.

The vessel, Norwegian Sun, arrived at approximately 11:20 a.m. local time, bringing 1,831 passengers from 46 nationalities along with 891 crew members, according to immigration police stationed at the Sihanoukville port checkpoint.

The Bahamas-registered ship measures 258.6 metres in length and 32 metres in width, with a draft of 8.2 metres. It is scheduled to depart Cambodian waters at 7:00 p.m. the same day, continuing its regional itinerary to Thailand.

Passengers from the United States formed the largest group, with 1,075 travellers, followed by 223 tourists from Canada. Officials said most visitors disembarked to explore attractions across Preah Sihanouk province, including beaches, tourist destinations and cultural sites. Two passengers travelled onward to Siem Reap province to visit the Angkor area.

Immigration authorities and local officials coordinated arrival procedures to ensure passengers could disembark efficiently and travel to nearby destinations. Provincial authorities also arranged security and logistical support to facilitate the visitors’ short stay.

The stopover is part of a regional cruise itinerary allowing travellers to spend a full day experiencing Cambodia’s culture, heritage and the development of Preah Sihanouk province before the ship continues its voyage through Southeast Asia.
