PHNOM PENH, March 16 – Cambodia’s Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training brought nearly 1,000 job opportunities directly to workers in Banteay Meanchey province on Sunday through a provincial job forum targeting residents, youth and migrants returning from Thailand, officials said.
Four Cambodian factories and enterprises conducted on-the-spot interviews at Svay Chek District Hall, allowing job seekers to register and meet employers directly during the event.
The forum forms part of the ministry’s weekly provincial employment campaign aimed at connecting companies with workers in rural areas, including provinces along the Cambodian-Thai border.
Pok Pan, Secretary of State representing Labour Minister Heng Sour, said the ministry is centralizing job information and delivering it directly to provinces to reduce the time and cost of searching for work independently.

He urged citizens to consider domestic employment, citing wages, working conditions and the ability to remain with their families. Workers employed locally also receive protection and benefits under Cambodia’s National Social Security Fund (NSSF), he said.
The ministry also promoted its TVET 1.5M programme, which aims to ensure citizens obtain at least one lifelong technical skill through vocational training.
Officials said experienced workers without formal qualifications can also obtain certification through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) system, which assesses existing skills.

The nearly 1,000 vacancies offered in Banteay Meanchey are part of a wider national effort that currently provides access to more than 83,000 job opportunities across Cambodia, according to the ministry.
