ASEAN Secretary-General joins Cambodia-ASEAN Business Summit in Phnom Penh, with bilaterals planned

ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn is in Phnom Penh for the Cambodia–ASEAN Business Summit 2026 (March 3–4), where he is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Cambodian officials alongside engagements with regional business leaders, according to the ASEAN Secretariat and Cambodian state media.

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia, March 3, 2026 – ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn is in Phnom Penh to lead an ASEAN Secretariat delegation at the Cambodia–ASEAN Business Summit 2026, a two-day event running March 3–4, according to an ASEAN Secretariat pre-announcement and Cambodian state media coverage.

The summit is being co-organised by the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) and ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) Cambodia with other chambers and business associations, and is being held under the theme “Transforming ASEAN: Innovation, Integration, and Industrial Evolution,” Cambodia’s AKP news agency reported.

AKP reported that Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Manet is expected to preside over the summit’s official opening ceremony on March 4 at Sofitel Phnom Penh.

Bilateral meetings on the sidelines

In its pre-announcement, the ASEAN Secretariat said Kao was scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Cambodian government officials on the margins of the summit, alongside engagements with the business community, with a focus including trade, investment, connectivity, tourism and inclusive growth.

Separately, an ASEAN Secretariat activity note dated March 3 said Kao held a bilateral engagement with Sun Chanthol, Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice-Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), on the margins of the summit.
